Student Research Assistant - Quantum

Position Summary: 

Position begins in Spring 2026.

This paid research position engages students in early career opportunities in computational and quantum computing science. The position is supported by NSF LEAP-MPS grant.  The students will work closely with the Principal Investigator on cutting edge computational quantum physics research projects.  Students are required to have excellent mathematics aptitude, keen understanding of basics physics/science concepts and quantum computing. The high proficiency in python and qiskit programming is required, and prior quantum computing research experience is not required but will be considered as a big plus. Specific tasks include quantum computing coding, numerical simulation, and data analysis on quantum simulation projects.

 

Main Job Duties:

Specific tasks include quantum computing coding, numerical simulation, and data analysis.

Occasional Job Duties or Projects:

Computational quantum physics simulation.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Skills: (Example: Customer Service, Attention to Detail, etc., specific technical skills)

Excellent mathematics aptitude, keen understanding of basics physics/science concepts, and high proficiency in C++ programming and/or python

 

Major/Coursework Required:  

Computer science or applied math.
