Position Summary: 

Assist lab personnel in the DigForCE lab and research on techniques and emerging devices.

 

Main Job Duties:

Assist with forensics research including but not limited to hard drives, mobile devices, IoT devices and other emerging devices.  Assist with research of new techniques and procedures for handling digital evidence.  Assist with cybercrime case work received from South Dakota Consumer protection including Business Email Compromise, website compromise, cryptocurrency scams.  Assist with the production of educational material for South Dakota Consumer Protection and South Dakota law enforcement agencies.  Assist with accurate entering and tracking case information including case submission, search warrants, and communication with law enforcement. Assist with validation testing of lab equipment.

 

Occasional Job Duties or Projects:

May communicate with law enforcement as needed.  Additional research projects as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Skills

Accuracy and attention to detail, understanding of operating systems, excellent verbal and written communications skills, understanding of digital forensic fundamentals.  Desire to conduct research and translate research into writing blog postings, procedure documentation, or publications.

 

Major/Coursework Required:  

Completion of CSC 388 a must, additional forensics courses preferred

 

Physical Requirements

Occasional walking, standing, and lifting.

Majors Preferred: Cyber Operations, Cyber Leadership and Intelligence, or Network Security and Administration, Cyber Defense, Computer Science
